Yost and reportedly told them that Israel’s charges of Soviet-Egyptian missile advances during the cease-fire were “sensationalism and fabrications in an attempt to mislead world public opinion and divert it from the Israeli defiances and acts of lawlessness.” Dr. El-Farra and Israel’s Ambassador Yosef Tekoah differed sharply on the standstill situation. In a heated exchange of views. Dr. El-Farra charged Israel with hindering peace and Ambassador Tekoah asserted “the central problem” was Egypt’s “grave violation” of the standstill agreement. A UN spokesman said on Friday that Dr. Jarring prefers negotiations at the Foreign Ministerial level rather than on the ambassadorial level favored by Egypt and Jordan.
