Israel’s UN Ambassador Yosef Tekoah refuted here last night charges by Syria that Israeli forces, with drawing from Syrian territory, had wrecked and destroyed the town of Kuneitra and other villages. Tekoah referred to the Syrian charges as “malicious and false” and contended that all damages are the “direct result of the war Syria has waged against Israel.”
The Syrian accusations were included in a letter by Haissam Kelani, the Syrian Ambassador, to Secretary General Kurt Waldheim. In his letter Kelani also charged Israel with detaining three Syrian villagers allegedly abducted by Israeli forces from the town of Hadar. Tekoah said this charge was being investigated.
