Israel charged Jordan in a letter to the Security Council today with “full responsibility” for the terrorist rocket attack on Beisan township this morning. In his letter to Security Council President Padma Bahadur Khatri of Nepal, Israel’s UN Ambassador Yosef Tekoah said Jordan was also responsible for 261 armed attacks on Israeli civilian centers between April 26 and the end of May in which six Israelis were killed and 16 were wounded. “The government of Jordan bears full responsibility for all armed attacks and acts of violence carried out from its territory across the cease-fire lines, in breach of the cease-fire resolution and the United Nations Charter,” Ambassador Tekoah wrote. He observed that today’s attack on Beisan was “the second time in the last ten days that Israeli children were murdered in this terror warfare against civilian targets, openly proclaimed and supported by the Arab governments.”
