Israel’s UN Ambassador Yosef Tekoah protested yesterday against Iraq’s dissemination of a year-old interview with an Israeli professor critical of Israeli policy. In a letter to Secretary General U Thant, Tekoah described the comments by Israel Shahak of the Hebrew University’s Chemistry Department as a “concoction of falsehoods and distortions.” He expressed outrage that Iraq, a “backward” country that has hanged “innocent Jews,” should circulate such material among United Nations members.
