The municipal council of Tel Aviv today adopted a resolution condemning the Hapoel, the Laborite sports organization, for violating the Sabbath.
The resolution was adopted because the Hapoel, which opened its fourth sports festival here on Saturday, carried its members to the athletic field in open trucks, deliberately passing the synagogue where worshipers were attending Sabbath services. The action of the Hapoel provoked great consternation.
An all-Palestine convention of retail merchants opened here today to discuss the position of retailers in the Palestine trade.
