Prices of many food products were fixed by proclamation yesterday in an effort to prevent profiteering due to the presence in the city of some 9,500 refugees.
The proclamation declared there was no fear of a food shortage and no reason existed for raising prices.
A conference on the situation was attended by city officials and District Commissioner Robert E.F. Crosbie.
