“Hitler boycott week” was launched here as a measure aimed at stimulating the boycott of German made products by the Jewish Socialist Youth Federation.
Rabbis delivered sermons calling for the boycott during the pause in the services on Saturday, February 17. At the Jascha Heifetz Hall here, addresses were delivered calling for a removal of the stigma on Palestine Jewry, that it was buying German goods. It was pointed out that German imports into Palestine had increased of late and were mounting.
It may be mentioned, incidentally, that the reason for this increase is that German Jewish newcomers are bringing considerable property and effects into the country, and the rise therefore may not be attributed to higher purchases by residents.
Other measures in the campaigns include the fiashing of “boycott the goods of the evil country” on the screens of talkie houses, while tags and streamers bearing upon the blockade, such as “give an honorable reply to Nazi evil,” were distributed and worn.
The promoters of “Hitler boycott week” hope to increase the blockade considerably during their campaign.
