Tel Aviv Mayor Shlomo Lehat resigned from leadership of the newly founded Liberal Center Party Sunday but has not quit the party, though he said it was a “disappointment” to him. Lehat, a former Likud Liberal, was one of the founders of the Liberal Center Party this year. He complained it has not raised much public interest and has had little success attracting financial contributions. It was established by defected Likud Liberals who objected to the possible merger of the Liberal Party with Herut. The two parties are presently partners in the Likud bloc.
