The Tel Aviv Municipal Council today voted to ban the sale of pork within the boundaries of the city. This decision follows similar action taken by most of the Jewish municipalities in Israel.
Several months ago the Israel Parliament approved regulations according to which the breeding of pigs is allowed only in the region of Nazareth which is populated by Christians. Pork is prohibited under the Moslem religion as well as under the Jewish.
