The Tel Aviv municipality today adopted a resolution demanding that the Palestine Government either make public the charges against Israel Rokach and the other Jews detained at Latrun for the last two months or else release them immediately. The municipality also sent a message of encouragement to the Exodus refugees.
An unsigned letter from the Latrun detainees released here today denied the British report that living conditions in the camp were good. The letter complained of inadequate sanitary facilities, water and, protection from the mid-summer sun.
An Irgun Zvai Leumi statement to the press issued tonight called on the Jews all over the world to assist Egypt in her struggle for freedom against Britain.
“Sulcha,” the traditional Arab peace-making ceremony, took place today in the Yemenite quarter of Tel Aviv between the Jewish and neighboring Arab residents to mark the close of the recent disturbances which resulted in the loss of life and heavy property damage.
Forty Arabs, as well as local Jewish merchants, participated in the ceremony, in observer pointed out that no prominent Arabs attended since this section of the Arab population is under the direct influence of the Arab Executive. However, peace between both parties has nevertheless been achieved.
The Tel Aviv Diamond Trust Center was robbed this afternoon of $50,000 in diamonds when three armed youths entered the offices and, at pistol point, took $20,000 to diamonds from the staff. Simultaneously, a girl employee of the Trust arriving at the building with $30,000 wirth of diamonds found her taxi diverted by a small car into a deserted street where several armed youths forced hor to surrender the gems,
