All storekeepers and artisans in Tel Aviv will close their shops tomorrow in a one-day strike of protest against the failure to extend the rent law limiting rentals levied here.
General offices, doctors, dentists, and druggists will join in the strike for a two-hour period.
Residents of the city are being urged by the press to prepare sufficient food for the day since grocery stores and restaurants also will be closed.
The shortage of buildings and housing in Tel Aviv necessitated some time ago the proclamation of a law fixing the rentals to be charged and barring raising of rents. A wholesale raising of rentals is feared because the demand for space is as great as ever and new building is behind schedule because of the labor shortage.
