Tension continued high today in the Ashmoura settlement area adjoining the Syrian border where Israel has resumed land reclamation activities following several attacks by the Syrians last week. Heavy equipment, in the past prime targets for Syrian gunners, have begun digging and bull dozing.
Israeli military authorities reported today that in the fighting in the Ashmoura vicinity, the Syrians for the first time used Soviet anti-tank equipment. The weapons, of 1955 manufacture, are similar to weapons captured from the Egyptians in the Sinai campaign.
