Tension Relaxes in Palestine; Curfew Lifted

The authorities today lifted curfew here and in Tel Aviv as tension relaxed and Jewish Palestine returned to normal after a turbulent 48 hours climaxed by the execution yesterday morning of Shlomo Ben Josef.

The Polish Consulate at Tel Aviv flew its flag at half-staff for the Polish-born youth, who was hanged at Acre prison after conviction by a military court of shooting at an Arab bus. The Petach Tikvah municipality decided to name a street in Ben Jose’s honor.

Several miles of the barbed-wire barricade being constructed on the Palestine-Syria frontier were damaged near Sassa During the night by Arab terrorists equipped with Wire-Cutters of Foreign Origin. Planes and Troops Engaged The Bands, Reportedly Inflicting Several Casualties and Driving Them Into Syria.

A Jew named Isaac Friedmann was wounded by terrorist bullets near Jaffa. Three Arabs transporting fruit and vegetables in the Bethlehem region were wounded by the fire of unidentified terrorists.
