The death toll in the Aug. 5 Arab terrorist attack at Athens Airport climbed to five today when Henry Leppo, 24, of Oceanside, Long Island, died early this morning at the New York University Rehabilitation Center here. Leppo, an employe of the federal Health, Education and Welfare Department was brought to New York two weeks ago from an Athens hospital.
Leppo, who was Jewish, was returning to the United States after a two-week vacation in Greece and was waiting to board a plane for home when the attack-occurred, according to his mother’s cousin, Mrs. Gladys Landis. Three persons were immediately killed and 55 were injured, including Leppo and a 16-year-old Wisconsin woman who died later at an Athens hospital.
Mrs. Landis said she was angered both by the lack of reaction over the Athens massacre and the loud outcries when Israel retaliates against terrorism. She said that many people did not realize that many of the 55 injured were hurt seriously.
