A wedding will take place shortly at the Nablus central prison. The bride is 22-year-old Mariam Shakshir, daughter of a wealthy Nablus businessman, who is serving a life sentence for planting a bomb outside the Hebrew University cafeteria in Jerusalem which wounded 28 persons nearly four years ago. Her husband-to-be is Samir Al-Masri, a Nablus-born engineer living in Irbid, Jordan. Israel authorities were reportedly considering freeing Miss Shakshir on condition that she leaves the West Bank permanently. Her family has expressed hope that she will be released for at least 24 hours on her wedding day.
