A Lod military court today sentenced a Turkish shipmaster to four years imprisonment for landing a terrorist squad on the Tel Aviv beach during the 1976 Rosh Hashanah holiday. The group, which came ashore in motorboats, was captured after throwing their weapons and explosives into the sea. They have since been sentenced to prison terms of 4-20 years. The Turkish captain, Ahmed Bash, 48, was arrested six months later when his ship called at Haifa with cargo from Cyprus. He admitted transporting the terrorists to Israeli waters but claimed he was not aware of their intentions.
