The Textile Committee of the Department for Urban Colonization of the Palestine Zionist Executive has drawn up a plan for the establishment of an Experimental Station for the promotion of the textile industry in Palestine.
Palestine, the Committee believes, has all the conditions favorable to the successful development of this industry, suitable climate, and proximity to sources of raw material and to markets of large absorbing capacity. Further progress requires the establishment of an institute for the scientific investigation of materials, processes and marketing conditions best suited to Palestine, and the training of skilled workers and specialists. It was suggested that the Zionist Organization issue a long-term loan to enable the Station to be established, but that it should be conducted as a business concern, managed by private persons who would be financially interested in it. Special attention will be devoted to the development of small scale home textile industries in Palestine.
