The alarming reports published in some American newspapers about an alleged crop failure in the Jewish colonies in the Ukraine were denied by Dr. Joseph A. Rosen, head of the Agro-joint in an interview today with the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency here.
Dr. Rosen stated that the only place where the crop failure affected about 1,000 families was in the Lenin tract, district of Cherson. Proper means were taken promptly to assist these families. The crop in the Krivoy Rogdistrict was excellent, the crop in Crimea was satisfactory. Conditions nowhere were panicky, he stated.
