The Association of Former Jewish Deportees appealed to President Francois Mitterrand to initiate some action against a notorious Nazi war criminal who now lives openly in West Germany. The appeal said that former SS Obersturmfuhrer Arnold Strippel carried out a massacre of Jewish children in April, 1945, in the closing days of the war. The appeal said that Strippel seems to enjoy complete immunity and had not been tried for the murder. Among the victims were French children.
