The ball of the Hilfsverein der Deutschen Juden passed without incident at the Kaiserhof Hotel, which is the headquarters of the Nazi chieftains during their negotiations regarding the formation of a government.
None of the Nazi leaders were to be seen within the Hotel during the progress of the ball.
The authorities, it is stated, requested the Nazi leaders to absent themselves from the hotel to avoid the possibility of disturbances.
Former Minister of Education, Dr. Becker, addressed the Hilfsverein guests.
Gregor Strasser and Dr. Wilhelm Frick did not leave their hotel suite, while Adolph Hitler, accompanied by Paul Joseph Goebbels, attended the opera where a performance of Wagner’s Meistersinger was being given with the prominent Jewish singer, Kipnis, in a leading role.
