The beating of a New York yeshiva student is being investigated as a possible hate crime.
Samuel Balkany, 16, told Newsday that he was attacked by five black teens in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood. He said the assailants kicked and punched him while yelling anti-Semitic slurs after he left a friend’s house on Friday night.
Residents told WCBS-TV that a half hour before the attack on Balkany, 15 black teens assaulted three Jewish teens only a few blocks away.
