The telephones at the Labor Party office here were ominously quiet yesterday. Apprehension was further aroused when officials and employes picked up their receivers and found the lines were dead. A call was placed to the phone company from another office where the lines were functioning. No, a telephone information officer told the caller, there was nothing wrong with the Labor Party office phones that a payment of IL 200,000 owed the phone company couldn’t fix. The lines would be opened again for business once the payment was made, the officer said firmly and ringingly. The Labor Party lines continued to be inoperative today.
