Direct telephone dialing between Egypt and Israel will soon be established, Communications Minister Amnon Rubinstein told reporters in Cairo after meeting for an hour with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Esmat Abdel-Maguid. Calls between the two countries now go through an operator.
The two Ministers also discussed ways to avoid television and radio jamming. Egypt and Israel use similar radio and TV transmission frequencies and the two officials agreed to coordinate policies in this area.
