The biggest synagogue in Israel is to be dedicated in Jerusalem Wednesday at a festive ceremony to be attended by President Yitzhak Navon, Premier Menachem Begin and the chief rabbis. Guest of honor — health permitting — will be British Jewish philanthropist Sir Isaac Wolfson whose $8 million donation covered about half of the cost of the massive edifice. The synagogue is the brain child of Maurice Jaffe, director of Hechal Shlomo and head of the Council of Synagogues in Israel.
