The board of Israel’s national airline is scheduled to make a final decision next week on a deal with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus that would end U.S.-made Boeing’s monopoly with El Al. An El Al spokesman said the decision would be based on “technical” grounds and not under pressure, a reference to reports that the United States has been pressing Israel to buy only from Boeing.
