The Broadway production of Mel Brooks’ “The Producers,” about a pair of Broadway producers who try to make a fortune by staging a flop musical about Hitler and the Nazis only to see it become a colossal hit, earned a record 15 Tony nominations. The hit show, which has already broken box office records since it opened last month, received nominations for stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. Brooks himself received nominations for best score, best book and as one of the show’s many producers.
