The Brooklyn section of the National Council of Jewish Women, of which Mrs. Mortimer Brenner is president, will sponsor a trip to Washington on April 22 as a “practical demonstration lesson in citizenship” for students of its English and citizenship day classes. Mrs. Therese Malkiel, supervisor of adult classes, who planned the tour, will accompany the students.
A special train has been reserved for the trip, during which the students will visit historical places of interest in the Capital.
A reception will be given the students by Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White House. Preceding the reception, a dinner will be held at the Hotel Arlington, which the following are expected to attend as guests of honor; Colonel Daniel W. MacCormack, Commissioner of Immigration; Mrs. Walter W. Husband, wife of the Assistant Secretary of Labor; Miss Aton, director of adult education in Washington, and Miss Sarah Elkus, director of adult education in New York City.
