The “brutality” of Russian anti-Semitism “will be eradicated,” Russian Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin pledged during a meeting in Washington with Jewish officials. Stepashin also condemned “radical politicians” in Russia who use anti-Semitism “for their own purposes.” According to representatives from the National Conference on Soviet Jewry and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Stepashin pledged Tuesday that “we will not allow these people to take power in Russia.”
