The Budapest Jewish community Monday unanimously elected Imre Heber, 61, as its new president. Heber, an industrial worker and an Orthodox Jew, pledged in his inaugural speech to draw closer to the rabbinate and the various synagogues, Representatives of the various Christian churches and the State Secretariat for Religious Affairs attended Heber’s inauguration.
