The Cabinet Sunday appointed Minister of Construction and Housing David Levy as the second Deputy Premier, in addition to Simcha Ehrlich. Premier Menachem Begin announced that in his absence, Ehrlich would take his place. The Cabinet also appointed Likud Knesset member Haim Kaufman as Deputy Minister of Finance. Kaufman, a major toy importer, will have to divest himself of his business assets or place them in trust.
