The campaign to free Soviet Jews from the burden of oppressive exit taxes has been carried to giant outdoor advertising billboards by the Jewish Community Relations Council. Rabbi Sidney Greenberg, chairman of JCRC’s Committee of 1000 for Soviet Jewry, said the billboards were donated by Mrs. Helen Steen, president of H.A. Steen Industries, an outdoor advertising firm. The signs on the billboards facing two expressways read: “Soviet Jews are still being held for ransom. Write. Wire President Nixon.” Rabbi Greenberg said additional boards are planned soon.
