The Canadian Foundation for Jewish Culture has announced scholarships, grants-in-aid and graduate fellowships to 17 Canadian scholars for 1972. The grants range from $400 to $2000 and have been made possible by private contributions to the Foundation and a community grant from the Calgary Jewish Community Council. Rabbi Dr. Stuart E. Rosenberg, Foundation president, stated that the “number of applications exceeded our expectations. They bear witness to the increasing interest of scholars in research and study in Judaica, history, literature, talmudic studies and anthropology.” He noted that the greatest number of applications were received from students in doctoral programs, “a very heartening development in view of the development of programs in Jewish studies at the University of Toronto, McGill University, Sir George Williams University and the University of Manitoba.”
