The Caribbean nation of Nevis issued a stamp to honor Israel’s 50th anniversary. The stamp depicts Israeli actor Chaim Topol dressed in the role of Tevye from the film version of “Fiddler on the Roof.” Topol won an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award in 1971 for his performance in the role made famous on Broadway by Zero Mostel. Officials representing Nevis said Topol was chosen for the stamp because he is perhaps Israel’s most legendary international entertainer.
