The chairman of the Jewish congregation of East Berlin, Peter Kirschner, is due to visit the Ashkenazi congregation of Amsterdam to return to it a large number of Amsterdam Jewish marriage certificates that were recently discovered in the attic of the Oranienburg Street Synagogue in East Berlin. Apparently the documents were taken by the Germans in Amsterdam during the German occupation of The Netherlands and transferred to Berlin.
