The chairman of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial compared the liberation of death camps 60 years ago to the war in Iraq. “We remember that the price of liberation is steep, its mantle heavy and its sacrifices real,” Fred Zeidman, a prominent Jewish backer of President Bush, said at a commemoration Thursday in the Capitol Rotunda of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the death camps. “President Bush understands this only too well, and our nation is now courageously engaged in another battle for freedom.”
