The chief of staff of the Israel Defense Force issued a ban on hazing ceremonies in the army. The practice known as “Zubur” — which occurs when soldiers in certain units are promoted or are about to be transferred – – sometimes becomes a form of punishment for a soldier who had failed to function as expected.
