The commission appointed by the Ozet to prepare a plan of colonization in the Bureya region, Siberia, has completed its work, it was announced here.
A special book on the Bureya plan, containing the report of the expert investigation prepared by Pro. Brook, chief agonomist of the Comzet, will be published by this body.
According to the plan of the commission, which consisted of Samuel Weizmann and Messrs. Robinson and Rashkes, 1,000 men are to be settled during 1928 to prepare the land and erect buildings so thAt their families may be brought over in the spring of 1929. The employment of machinery, powerful tractors and road building machines on a large scale is envisaged in the plan. A body of agronomists and engineers was enlisted to prepare the details.
An additional area of 20,000 hectares for Jewish land settlement was allocated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture, on representations made by the UK-rainian Comzet.
The new grants are in Cherson, where 6.000 hectares vrere allotted, and in Melitopel. where 14.000 hectares were granted. The land is situated within the Agrojoint’s sphere of activity and was previunsly investigated by expert agronomists representing the Agro-Joint and the Comzet.
