The controversy in Zionist ranks re-echoed in Detroit, at the dinner given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H. Zackheim and Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Shetzer. Detroit Zionists, prior to their departure for a visit to Palestine.

Robert Marwil, president of the Zionist District of Detroit, who was first speaker of the evening, declared that “any one who opposes the administration is a traitor to Zionism.”

Mrs. Joseph H. Ehrlich, president of Detroit Hadassah, who was also a speaker of the evening, resented the statement, claiming the right of free criticism, and declaring that she is ready to line up with such “traitors.”

In his Passover sermon at Temple Emanu-El, Rabbi Samuel Schulman expressed the encouragement of non-Zionists for the administration of Dr. Weizmann.

Although he did not mention the controversy within Zionist ranks, the “New York Times” states, Dr. Schulman declared that Dr. Weizmann has the confidence of the non-Zionists, who, he announced were ready to cooperate for the rehabilitation of Palestine through the Jewish Agency, now in process of formation. He pointed out that he had little sympathy for Jewish nationalism and could see a larger field for the realization of Jewish ideals in America, but that he still wished to smooth the path in Palestine.
