The daughter of former king Amanullah of Afghanistan, has become engaged to a Jewish medical student, Edward Wolman, in Rome, according to reports which reached here today.
Wolman, formerly a student at the University of Berlin, was driven out by the Nazis and went to Rome where he made a living by teaching German to the family of the former Afghan monarch.
Amanullah’s daughter fell in love with the Jewish student, and according to the story, the romance was opposed at first by her father, who later relented and gave his consent.
Amanullah and his daughter are expected here shortly, since Wolman’s parents live here. The Wolman family refused to make any comments.
