The daughter of Kazakhstan’s leader stood up for a British Jewish comedian who has satirized her country. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has upbraided Sacha Baron Cohen for his character Borat, a clueless Kazakh who proudly says anti-Semitism and sexism are traditional in the Central Asian nation. Last year, Almaty officials closed down a local Web site dedicated to Cohen and his satirical program “Da Ali G Show.” But Nazarbayev’s daughter, Dariga, a former politician and television producer, said over the weekend that such measures were self-defeating.
