The defeat in the U.S. Senate of an amendment to ban Arctic drilling is an outrage, the Reform movement said. Wednesday’s decision to go ahead with the drilling is “an offense to the environment, endangers vulnerable species and infringes on the sacred space of the indigenous Gwitch’in tribe,” said Rabbi David Saperstein, the director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.
