The details of the Palestinian budget, which is to be decided this year, for the first time, in Palestine, are being discussed here by the members of the Palestine Economic Council, who have already arrived.
Some of the members of the Council are inclined to reject the assignments for the new settlements, preferring instead to expend all available funds for the strengthening of the existing settlements. It is expected that within three years, all the new settlements will be self-supporting.
A special commission consisting of Messrs. Ettinger, Arlosoroff, Varnatz and Wilkansky, will visit all the new settlements and investigate into measures which should be taken for the purpose of insuring their self-support.
