The discovery of a knife hidden in Israel’s main airport prompted a security alert. The large kitchen knife was found Sunday in a bathroom at Ben-Gurion Airport by guards carrying out a routine search. The assessment was that the knife was abandoned by a passenger who mistakenly brought it to the airport and did not want to be stopped by security. But security sources said surveillance of arriving passengers would be boosted to rule out the possibility that the knife was left behind to be picked up by a terrorist.
