The Dutch government opened an inquiry into what an Israeli jet was carrying when it crashed in 1992, causing the Netherlands’ worst air disaster. Last year, Israel admitted the jet was carrying chemicals that could be used to make sarin nerve gas. The crash of the El Al jet caused 43 deaths, and hundreds of people living near the site of the accident have suffered chronic illnesses they blame on the plane’s cargo.
