The embarrassment that Switzerland suffered between 1996 and 1998 over disclosures of its financial dealings with the Nazis could have been avoided if the Alpine nation had a larger military intelligence service, according to the Swiss defense minister. A beefed-up intelligence community could have alerted the government to the importance of the disclosures and the effect they could have on Switzerland’s reputation, Adolf Ogi said.
