The European Jewish Congress called for E.U. measures against anti-Semitism. In a statement Tuesday, the European Commission said the president of the congress, Cobi Benatoff, had told commission President Romano Prodi in a telephone conversation that Jews believe that in today’s Europe “to wear the kipah was effectively to put one’s life in danger.”
