The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will invest in a strategy to promote Middle East peace. The church council, or governing board, last week approved $100,000 to fund the campaign, “Peace Not Walls: Stand for Justice in the Holy Land.” The strategy aims to promote coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians, reduce Palestinian poverty and achieve a negotiated settlement that includes shared control of Jerusalem.
