The first copy of the new 16-volume Encyclopaedia Judaica was presented to Pope Paul VI last Friday in the Vatican audience room by the president of the Judaica Committee, Gen. Haim Herzog. Israel’s Ambassador Amiel Najar was present. Pope Paul stressed the special role of Jewish culture in world civilization, and expressed hope for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
