The former leader of Israel’s Shas Party returned Monday to Israel from the United States, where he has spent the past two months raising money for his legal defense against a corruption conviction. Aryeh Deri has been abroad since he was forced to relinquish leadership of the party as a condition for Shas’ entering the governing coalition.
