The French authorities are shortly expected to render a decision in connection with the complaint submitted by Nathan Halpern, a representative of the Palestine Foundation Fund, who last June was prevented from conducting a campaign in Tunisia by the authorities there.
A meeting scheduled for June 10th in Tunis, at which the campaign was to be launched, and which Halpern was scheduled to address, was abandoned upon the order of the authorities, who explained that the generally insecure situation might lead to disturbances if the meeting were held.
Shortly thereafter, riots broke out in various parts of Tunisia.
At the time the Jewish Community protested sharply and charged the authorities with yielding to pressure from Arab Nationalists conducting a violent anti-Jewish campaign because of their opposition to Zionism.
The administration of Tunis, yielding it is believed to pressure of the Arab Nationalists, also refused to issue a visa to Vladimir Jabotinsky, Revisionist leader, last summer.
